Making Paper Come to Life: week 2

Today I taught myself how to make another simple figure. I used the book Animal Origami by Fumiaki Shingu and followed the steps in order to make my figure. This book is really helpful for anyone who wants to build up their origami skills.

I decided to create a step by step collages, by using the app instasize, that will help give my audience an idea of how it went and will give them a resource if they want to try it on their own.

Step one was to pick out the color of origami paper you want to use and to fold that piece in half to form a triangle. It is important that the open end of the triangle is away from you and that the creased part of the triangle is towards you.

Step two includes folding your triangle in half once again but to the left and then unfolding it to create a crease. This crease will act a guide later on.

Step three: fold the bottom part of your triangle so that it matches up with the dotted lines as shown in the picture.

Step four: use the creased line you created as a guide and fold the sides of your paper so that they meet the center of the triangle. For the best result, make sure you match up the edge of the paper with the center crease.

Step five: turn over the paper.

Step six: fold the top part of the diamond back towards the ears and crease it. Make sure it is tucked in between the ears and the diamond.

Step seven: now fold the bottom point of the diamond. Fold it back so that it is under the figure.

Step eight: this is the final step where you can give your bunny a face and decorate it.

I had a lot of fun creating this figure and I feel that next week I will be able to give myself more of a challenging figure.
